Orange + Yellow Rain Alerts Issued for Krishna Region as Depression Forms over Bay

Krishna / Gudivada, Andhra Pradesh — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Orange and Yellow alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts including Krishna, as a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is forecast to intensify into a depression.  According to the IMD, the system is expected to make landfall near the south Odisha – north Andhra coast by 27 September, bringing with it thunderstorms, gusty winds (up to 40–50 km/h), and intermittent downpours over coastal Andhra. In anticipation, districts including Krishna have already been placed under Yellow Alert (moderate risk) and some adjacent districts under Orange Alert (higher risk). Local officials have been asked to activate disaster response teams, monitor drainage systems, and warn low-lying areas prone to flooding. Residents are advised to avoid nonessential outdoor travel, secure loose materials and be alert for lightning, gusty winds, and sudden water accumulation. Job Scam in Gudivada Leaves 10 Victims Financially Stranded

Gudivada, Krishna District — Ten individuals have fallen victim to a job scam in Gudivada where they were promised employment in the municipal sanitation department. The perpetrators allegedly demanded bribes from the victims, promising them jobs that never materialized. According to the police, the accused—names include Gullapalli Srinivas Rao, Addepalli Purushottam, and Haribabu—took money from those desperate for employment but failed to deliver on any job appointments. Many of the victims took loans to meet the demand. An FIR has been lodged after complaints were filed with the Gudivada One Town police station. Gudivada’s Power Infrastructure to Get Boost with 400/220 KV Substation Project

Gudivada, Krishna District — To meet the rising electricity demand in Gudivada and surrounding areas, officials have greenlit a 400/220 kV substation project as part of the regional grid expansion plan. The MEIL (Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd) group is executing the upgrade, which is expected to enhance reliability and reduce outages in the urban and rural stretches. Officials from the electricity department said that the new substation will facilitate better load management, lower transmission losses, and support industrial development in the region. The project also includes reinforcement of feeder lines and associated infrastructure.
